chronicles of a bride - the fitting

19 August 2008

I just had my first fitting today. And boy, I was speechless. From the lace accents up to the skirt detail, Veluz, my couturier really amazed me. My mom was there to accompany me and even she was impressed as Veluz slowly transformed the design sketches into a beautiful masterpiece. Step by step, she adjusted the muslin so it would perfectly fit my form. I actually felt like I was in an operating room being dissected, hahaha. Pins where everywhere - shoulder, hips, buttocks, back, front, etc as Veluz together with her two assistants tediously nipped the waistline, hipline and all the lines you can think of.

Anyway, after a few more minutes, we saw the output. My verdict - perfect! I love it. I love it. I looove it. I was speechless. For a minute, I couldn't say a thing, napa-smile na lang ako. I was really in shock and awe. Ganun pala feeling. Anyway, I didn't take pictures of it as I want to keep it as a surprise for Manu. I know he already has an idea what the final design looks like but I am sure those didn't register well when I shared some details.

I will be having my second fitting before August ends. Keep you posted.

our first DIY

Finally, my fiance was able to finish the final draft for our STDs. I know it's kinda late already as we're just roughly 5 months away from the BIG day. But no worries, with my ever-so-reliable cramming skills and my fiance's ability to master the art of patience, we'll surely wing it without a scratch. ;)

I initially wanted an STD with a picture of ours but because of lack of time to do pictorials, we settled for something classy and formal. Good thing Manu got the skills and he was able to do it in just a whim. :)

Disclaimer: The images below look far different from the way they appear on my laptop. Must be the photo uploading problem of google.

So, how do we get this into production? Well, we got several choices. One is to have it printed in one of them expensive printing companies where we can just shell out an amount of 100 bucks per piece. However, doing so simply defeats the concept of DIY so, scratch that.

Second option is to to look for a paper company where we can buy the materials and then just use home printers. This sounds good but the problem is I am not even sure if our personal printer still exists. We just had our house renovation and mom got too carried away that she gave out some stuff to her staff including those that are actively being used.;)) I will also have to check if fiance has one in their house which we can use for STD printing. Otherwise, we'll have to scratch this one out too.

Third is actually a variation of the second one and an answer if no personal printers are available. We'll just have to scout for both paper company and printing press that can do the wonders for our STD. Now, if we can only find these too soon...:D

Anyway, there's the plan. As to how we are going to execute it is definitely another story. Wish us good luck! :)

cleaning out my closet

Outdated clothes, studio pics, mushy letters from highschool, college diaries - these are just some stuff I came across today. This day marks the day I cleaned out my closet after almost a year! Good thing, there was no snake or any exotic reptile came out from my tremendous pile of treasures.

Anyway, while I was sorting my stuff as to which goes to the trash and not, I saw an old HS studio pic of my barkada. Simply looking at it brought a lot of good memories, both naughty and nice hehe. Glad to know our barkada is still intact. I know I wouldn't have survived my adult life without them.

Another good find from my "treasures" is my first DLSU student handbook. It didnt contain much, just some day-to-day homeworks and lists of to do's. However, there is one very special page that caught my eye. There in that page sits my very short journal about a crush. A crush whom I didn't get to see that Thursday, March 18, 1999. There I wrote that I am missing my crush shortly after spending time with him the day before. I narrated how nice the crush was in helping me finished a task while taking a mental note that I should not be feeling extra special as he also does this to other people. You can tell from the journal that I was anxious to know if crush has also feelings for me. I even wrote that in case he doesn't like me back, it is not my loss! Talk about sourgraping hehe. Anyway, I ended the journal with these lines.

"I still think we make a good couple (feeling ako hahaha).......Maybe he's really not for me, maybe he is. Who knows...we might end up together someday..well, only God knows."

Too bad, that entry didnt have any follow-through. The tedious task of cleaning the closet would have been more exciting if there was another a la telenovela entry in that black student handbook.

As for the crush, well, he has been in a relationship for quite a long time now, a serious one I think. In fact, he's already engaged. He will marry his love of his life finally after long years of love-filled relationship. Thanks to my strong fighting spirit (esp during college) and of course, my faith to God, the crush whom I missed every Thursdays of that 3rd term SY 98-99, the same guy who bumped his car in Taft because he hadn't any sleep the night before but still decided to drive me to Carriedo, will be the groom at the altar when I walk down that aisle this December.

the oomph factor

Finally, I got to meet Veluz last night. And I must say, she impressed me! Veluz got the skills! She was able to translate my uber complex requirements into a realistic design. When I say complex, I really mean it. She wouldn't be uttering "Challenge ito!" a few times if otherwise hehe.
I know the BIG day is still months away but I just couldn't contain the excitement I have right now. I promised myself not to show the design to anyone except to my Maid Of Honor who accompanied me to Veluz. But guess what, just this morning, I showed the sketch to my mom. I even gave my sister full details thru YM. hihihi! Oh well, I just hope I don't get to show it to Manu. I still want to see that mesmerizing look in his face when I walk down that aisle this December.:)

dream team

That's right, we have our dream team for our BIG day. Unfortunately, they're not complete yet. As everyone knows, I and Manu are quite choosy in picking our suppliers and this might take some time before we complete our roster of supplier for the BIG day. Anyway, without any further ado, here it is.

Church: The Transfiguration Chapel

This is the first supplier we booked right after we got engaged. We both like the facade of this chapel and the solemnity it brings to a wedding. Manu and I want an intimate wedding so this chapel perfectly fits our requirement.

Reception: Splendido Taal Golf and Country

http://www.weddingsatsplendido.com/

It was my bestfriend who actually introduced us to this place. And at that very instant, Manu fell in love with Splendido. We went back the following week to reserve the place. During that time, none of our friends have actually tried their food. (We forgot to consider that when we paid the downpayment hahaha.) Lucky us, the food is great! We will even have them create our 5-layered cake for our wedding day. :)

Photographer: Mimi and Karl

http://www.mimiandkarl.com/

Both Mimi and Karl are equally talented. They are very good in taking candid shots. They do well with natural lighting and use minimal post processing. Mimi has the eye for detail, one major reason why I really want them to cover our big day.

Videographer: Threelogy

http://threelogyvideo.com/blog/

Just by watching their works, you can tell that these three guys got the skills. Glad they were still free when we contacted them last year.

That's all for now. Hopefully, the next time we post here, there will be new members of our dream team. I will just cross my fingers till then hehe.
